Testimonials

“Thank you so much for all you did to make our rehearsal dinner fantastic!  You were such a pleasure to work with – we have recommended Food For the Band to many!  Hopefully we have a reason to work with you in the future.” — Carrie & Steven, Jamaica Plain

“You have been such a great help to us, and we have loved your creative menus and wonderful cooking each week while George recovered.  I hope it will be alright to call on you again when the need arises — perhaps for a dinner party or celebration.  In the meantime, we will recommend you to others and hope that both you and your business will continue to thrive.” — Marlene E., Cambridge

“Jules feeds our family with the best food I have never eaten before.  It still reminds me of  the comforts of home, though, I can’t describe it!  Everything put in front of us is full of color and nutrition, filling but not heavy. Perfectly-cooked meat with well-paired sides. We love her food, we love her, and so does our preschooler!”- Barnstall family, Cambridge
“I just want you to know that as of today I am back to my pre-baby weight :-)  Thank you for your help on this journey.  I could not have done it without Food For the Band!”  — Kate C., Arlington

“Yes, please bring a dozen eggs. I can’t wait to see what the farms you work with have to offer this week! And I’m excited to try an egg not from the grocery store.  You are a great influence on us.” – Williams family, Boston

“Julia cooked for our family for over 2 years accommodating our numerous dietary restrictions.  She is the only person I know who can make, dairy, soy, nut, and wheat free baked goods that taste amazing!  She is professional, friendly, and very flexible.  Julia ensured that our family ate a nutritious and heathy diet, and even though there are many things we can’t eat, her food made us feel as though there wasn’t a thing we were missing.” – Mozdzanowska-Sit family, Cambridge

“I can’t say enough good things about Julia Nahmias of Food For the Band, who just delivered me my custom-made bone broth, following absolutely every request I made to the smallest detail (and even made me my own ingredient list!). Even before she arrived, she emailed me to let me know that she was decreasing the price a bit because the recipe yielded a cup less than she had promised (really, who does that?!?). She arrived with the broth pre-frozen in quart-sized portions, one of which I promptly defrosted in a saucepan and used to make the most delicious soup with chard, spinach, zucchini, yellow squash, leeks, carrots, celery and a handful of diced kabocha! YUM! Jules custom cooks for folks with or without special diet needs. She is talented and lovely and has my highest recommendation…I am so proud of myself for finding her haha!”  — Robyn G., Brookline (via Facebook)

“Julia’s personality radiates with a passion for food.  [Being a] personal chef has so many challenges as a cook.  Unfortunately, specialized diets have become a huge concern in the American diet.  Julia, through research, dedication and extreme creativity, has produced weekly menus and executed them beautifully, tastily and with strict health concerns in mind.  She has heart and concern mixed heavily into her recipes, and everything she does reflects her love for this career and the people who enjoy the fruits of her labor.” – Tim Webster, The Liberty Hotel, Boston

“I look forward to the menu arriving each week!  It is like a present, to open the email and see what I can expect to receive.  Thank you for taking the time to create and send them; I know it is extra work but you have really proved yourself to be the kind of personal chef that will go above and beyond for your (no doubt picky and maybe tough) clients like me!  By the way, these Paleo squash cookies are DELICIOUS!!!”  –  Andrea P., Boston

“I told Julia about my allergy to wheat and she accommodated me perfectly.  I did not realize that gluten and wheat-free foods could be made so delicious, with such finesse and style!” – Kelly D., Allston (via Yelp)

“We so appreciated having you here! The food was creative and generous, and your professionalism (and good nature) was appreciated. We hope to see you again!” – Cindy J., Somerville

“Julia is a dream come true!  Great food, dropped off at our home, and we don’t have to cook (or clean up!).  She took into consideration my girlfriend’s and my food needs and created with them in mind healthy, yummy home-cooked meals.  So much better for us and our wallets than eating out!” – Kevin L. and Jamie O., Boston

“Julia’s food was out of this world!  We talked for days about it.  She planned three courses, made this delicious strawberry cake and then left us leftovers from the  dinner!  Since then, we have continued to hire her, not only for private events but also for weeks that we know we won’t have time to cook for ourselves — we have her plan weekly menus as we need them. ” – Mark B., Cambridge (via Yelp)

“Thanks, Jules. So far we’ve had one meal (the chicken with roasted broccoli) – and everything was delicious. I’ve actually never had chicken so moist, so kudos.” – Graham S., Arlington

“My doctor told me that I needed to go GERD to help my nursing baby’s reflux.  Hiring Julia made this transition, though temporary, easy. And once Aziz started solid foods, she made that easy too.  And then she made me wonderful lemon squares to celebrate my return to a normal diet!” – Gita A., Somerville

“So far my faves of yours have been the quinoa cakes, the mac and cheese with peas, the stuffed chicken and the farmer’s market pizza. Who knew, I like vegetables and grains!” –  Justin C., Cambridge

“We ordered multiple hors d’oeuvres at a cocktail party and then we had starters, a main course and dessert at a dinner party. You HAVE to try Julia’s dessert!  Plus, not only was she professional and friendly, she was also accommodating — we had a vegan guest and it was no problem. The next event I host, I know who I’m reserving for chef expertise.” – Beth M., Needham
